Leonard Nemoy To Voice Sentinel Prime In 'Dark Of The Moon'

Leonard Nimoy has been cast in the new Transformers movie - he'll provide a voice for robot warrior Sentinel Prime in the sequel.

Prime, the predecessor of Optimus Prime, is found crash-landed on the moon by the Apollo 11 astronauts in 1969. After being brought to earth, he takes the disguise form of a fire engine and takes part in the film's climactic battle scenes, according to EW.com.

Nimoy, who is related to director Michael Bay through marriage, is no stranger to the Transformers franchise - his was the voice of Galvatron in 1986's Transformers: The Movie.

Bay admits he wanted Nimoy, who turned 80 last weekend, for the last Transformers film, Revenge of the Fallen, but feared he couldn't pay him enough.

He tells the publication, "I was too scared to ask him. Plus, he's married to Susan Bay, who's a cousin of mine. So I had to be careful. I've met him at family functions. But he told me, 'I would be honored. I'm glad to be back.'"

Transformers: Dark of the Moon opens July 1st.

More 'Monsters Inc 2' Info

The follow-up to Pixar's Monsters Inc now has a title: Monsters University.

Heat Vision has the report from the Disney presentation at the industry event CinemaCon, which is taking place in Las Vegas this week.

No word yet on the plot for the film, though that title might give us a basic idea of what to expect. Apparently this will be a prequel and the original film's voice talent (John Goodman, Billy Crystal and Steve Buscemi) will return.

Reports are also now surfacing that Dan Scanlon will direct the movie with Kori Rae producing. Scanlon has worked on Cars and Toy Story 3 with Rae having worked as a producer on UP.

The studio is shooting for a 2012 release for the film.

'Stan Lee Teams With Arnold Schwarzenegger For 'Governator'

Entertainment Weekly revealed yesterday that 63-year-old Aronld Schwarzenegger will follow up his two terms as Governor with an animated series created by the legendary Stan Lee.

"When I ran for governor back in 2003 and I started hearing people talking about the Governator, I thought the word was so cool," Schwarzenegger told the magazine.

"The word Governator combined two worlds: the world of politics and the movie world. And [this cartoon] brings everything together. It combines the governor, the Terminator, the bodybuilding world, the True Lies.

The series, which will be both a comic book and a television cartoon show, tells the story of a crime-fighting former governor with a tricked-out cave, a closet full of "super suits" and a 13-year-old hacker sidekick named Zeke Muckerberg.

Lee, co-creator of the Spider-Man, X-Men and many other famous characters told the magazine: "We're using all the personal elements of Arnold's life. We're using his wife [Maria Shriver]. We're using his kids.

"We're using the fact that he used to be governor. Only after he leaves the governor's office, Arnold decides to become a crime fighter and builds a secret high-tech crime-fighting center under his house in Brentwood."

Schwazenegger is excited.

"I love the idea of a control centre below my house with a path so that boats and submarines can go right into the ocean," he said.

"In the cartoon, my house is much closer to the beach than where we live, but, you know, it's a cartoon."

'The Office' Craig Robinson To Star In 'Rapturepalooza'

The Office co-star Craig Robinson is set to star in the post-apocalyptic comedy Rapturepalooza from Lionsgate Films.

Chris Matheson (Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure) wrote the script and will executive produce with Robinson. The film is being directed by commercial director Paul Middleditch, with Ed Solomon co-producing.

Robinson also displayed his comic chops in Hot Tub Time Machine and Pineapple Express. He'll soon be seen alongside Kerry Washington in We the Peebles.

The film is part of Lionsgate's thrifty new microbudget production initiative, which plans to produce up to ten films a year with budgets less than $2 million.  The move was inspired by the studio's previous success with such cost-efficient product as The Blair Witch Project and the Saw series.

"When we look at the films that have broken out over the past few years, it's clear that movie-goers are hungry for fresh stories told in bold ways," says Lionsgate exec Matt Kaplan in a press release. "All the movies we greenlight will push the envelope of what we've seen on screen. The low-budget aspect definitely imposes some constraints, but also forces us to find our value in great characters, explosive situations and excellent writing."

Two other films were announced as part of the initiative. In the coming-of-age comedy Gay Dude, two teen friends Matty and Michael make a pact to lose their virginity by graduation. To Michael's surprise, Matty reveals that he's gay. The Black List script was penned by Alan Yang (Parks and Recreation).

6 Miranda Drive is a supernatural thriller written and directed by Greg Mclean (Wolfcreek). In the film, a mild-mannered family returns home from vacation and unwittingly brings something evil into their home

James Franco To Teach Film Class At NYU

It appears that the student has become the teacher. Full-time academic and part-time Hollywood star James Franco, who seems to possess more degrees than a thermometer, is taking on a new role: Film professor. Franco will be teaching a fall semester course on adapting poetry into short films to third-year graduate film students at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Ten to twelve lucky prospective filmmakers will call the 127 Hours star “Mr. Franco” — “James,” if he’s cool, or “Teach,” if he’s even cooler. That’s a small class size and will presumably mean each student will have a lot of hands-on time with their well-known instructor. John Tintori, the chair of Tisch’s graduate film department, told EW that he thinks Franco will fit in well among the other faculty, which already includes the likes of Todd Solondz and Lodge Kerrigan. “We had talked about him teaching loosely for a couple of years,” says Tintori, “but then a couple of months ago he started telling me about a course that he’d like to do at some point down the road. And I said, ‘Why not now?’ So I did this thing that I really like to do with filmmakers who are talking about teaching, which is to just go ahead and put them on the schedule. So that’s how it evolved.”

The course will primarily focus on production, which means the students will be responsible for creating their own film based on a work of poetry. Franco hasn’t put together a syllabus quite yet, but he has until the summertime when students start the registration process, and the actual classes won’t start until the week after Labor Day. Tintori says, if all goes well, he can see teaching playing a big part in Franco’s life. “James really loves school and he’s a real academic,” he says. “He really thrives in an environment like this. I imagine this will be something he will be doing throughout his life, being a teacher. With all the other things he’s doing, I think this will fit in nicely.”

DreamWorks Developing 'Penguins of Madagascar' Movie

It looks like those pesky penguins will soon be starring in their own feature film as DreamWorks Animation has hired Alan Schoolcraft and Brent Simons to write a Penguins of Madagascar movie.

The writers worked with the company on the 2010 Megamind.

It's early in the project's life: there's no director, no release date, no story.

But the penguins are popular. The Penguins of Madagascar is in its second season on Nickelodean, and it's the No. 2-rated show on all of television for kids 2-11.

Meanwhile, the third installment of the Madagascar CG-animated series opens on June 8, 2012. The first two Madagascar movies have grossed $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

The hub To Produce 8 New Series

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett has often gotten animated when talking about the stock market, but never like this.

The Hub -- the cable-network venture from Discovery Communications and Hasbro -- announced at its pitch to advertisers this week that it will work with Buffett to produce a series of four half-hour specials under the Secret Mililionaire's Club label.

The series will follow a group of kids who learn the ins and outs of the business world -- and the world in general -- from a secret advisor, a role voiced by Buffett himself. No air date has been given yet.

The Hub also revealed that it has acquired the rights to air reruns of Fox's popular game show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? and that it will also roll out eight other new, original series.

Here's the network's descriptions for their new slate:

The Aquabats Super Show (Hub Original Series)

In this animated series, Blythe befriends the pets and introduces them to a world of adventures just outside their door. Produced by Hasbro Studios.

Clue (Hub Original Miniseries)
Inspired by the iconic family game brand, this live-action series features six teens who are brought together when they believe they've witnessed a terrible crime. As a team, they discover conspiracy theories and cover-ups dating back centuries! They must work together to solve one mystery, only to realize that they may have opened a Pandora's Box. Produced by Hasbro Studios.

The Game of Life (Hub Original Series)
The live-action family game show The Game of Life will be presented in an entirely new way as each family team gets a chance at the iconic spinner and hops in the car for a one-of-a-kind journey through a larger-than-life virtual world. Kirstie Alley Getting Dancing Tips From John Travolta

Kirstie Alley's Dancing with the Stars fan club includes a man who knows a thing or two about dancing – Grease and Saturday Night Fever star John Travolta.

"He's really excited," Alley told PEOPLE Monday of her pal. "I think he will come to the show and watch at some point. I hope. I'll beg."

The actress, who wowed the judges with an impressive cha cha Monday night, said Travolta offered her some pointers.

"His main thing was just have fun," Alley said.

That's good advice but rehearsing for a pressure-filled performance isn't always a joy.

"We always fight," Alley said of the times she's danced in movies with Travolta, adding that it's a similar circumstance with her DWTS pro partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. "But he's a great guy ... John just dances naturally ... John just makes it look easy."

Netflix Must Wait 90 Days To Stream starz Programming

Starz will institute a 90 day delay on when Netflix can stream its original programs, the cable channel said Thursday.

The new arrangement will start with the April 1 premiere of the upcoming drama Camelot.

A spokesperson for Netflix said that contrary to reports, Starz has no intention of pulling its movies from the site.

"We still plan to renegotiate our deal," Steve Swasey, a spokesperson for Netflix said. "Starz has added 800,000 new members since they started streaming with Netflix. They grew, we grew, everyone has won."

The news follows Tuesday's announcement that, under a new arrangement with Showtime, Netflix will no longer stream current episodes from the pay channel.

Liberty Media Corp.'s Starz had been an early partner in Netflix's streaming service, giving the subscription service online access to shows and movies from Disney and Sony. Negotiations for a new deal with Starz have been closely scrutinized by analysts.
